I’m a Lake Tahoe based wedding and portrait photographer, and fan of unposed, giddy-in-love, melt-my-lenses-editorial-style moments … oh, and t-shirts and jeans.

This week I’m dusting off the archives!
Some wedding seasons of the past just got too busy that I only blogged a sneak peek and the full post never happened. So, I’m changing that since these weddings deserve to have their moment!
This is the wedding of Marius and Jackie in beautiful Blairsden, CA- a whopping five years ago! A couple that has traveled the world together, described their best day together as browsing third world markets, and attracted most to each others “up for anything” attitudes. When I asked Jackie what she loved most about Marius, she said, “That he is always so happy, calm and fulfilled.”
Their dog, Miles, arrived promptly to the ceremony, got in position, and patiently waited. But after waiting a bit longer than he thought, he left, got a stick and returned to the aisle- a series of events that won him “best dog in a wedding” award.
It was my first wedding in the Graeagle/Blairsden area and when I arrived to this rugged summer camp/ resort vibe, I was all praise-hands! Jackie’s family spends summer vacations here and it was easy to see how this place became so special to them. Each group of guests gets their own rustic cabin, complete with big front porches, and inviting group of chairs and breezy hammocks. Most get around by bike and it’s the kind of place where kids are likely told, “Just be back by dark.” The simplest of pleasures are all around when all you want is to create memories with your family and friends. I was instantly hooked on how I could get my family here ASAP.
Many moments, I felt like I was a guest, melting into the laid back and happy go lucky crowd. Weddings where it feels like a big party that just so happens to be a wedding are definitely my cup of tea!
One of the stand out moments of the day was when the entire party marched from the ceremony site to cocktail hour behind Brian Hess and bandmates on saxophone, drums and trombone – a nod from Marius to the parades of New Orleans. This moment won “Best Wedding Moment” on Tahoe Unveiled this same year.
One Fine Day, The Cheeseboard and Camelot Party Rentals came together for a gorgeous reception, where a clear tent brought the outdoors back in again.
Marius said that the thing Jackie does that reminds him most that she’s the one, is the way she dances around the house. With Brian Hess mixing the perfect playlist, Jackie never left the dance floor,
I loved this wedding and I’m so happy to finally share it in its entirety! Enjoy!
