COURTNEY AARON

I’m a Lake Tahoe based wedding and portrait photographer, and fan of unposed, giddy-in-love, melt-my-lenses-editorial-style moments … oh, and t-shirts and jeans.

18 years ago I slung a camera strap around my neck, and I’ve been capturing moments and memories that will be cherished for generations to come ever since. My goal? Put you at ease in front of the camera and document what matters and giving you something timeless in a fleeting world.

Grass Vally Backyard Wedding

A Serendipitous Encounter

While exploring the local beaches with my son, I saw a couple setting up a tripod to capture some self-portraits. My son looked at me and said, “You’re going to go help, aren’t you?” He knows me too well. Lauren and Nick expressed such warm gratitude as my son told them what I do for a living. They shared that they’re having a Grass Valley backyard wedding and this is how our connection began! A chance meeting on a beach which led to one of the sweetest backyard style weddings I’ve had the honor to capture!

Meet two soul mates that complement each other completely. Their creativity and knack for hosting led them to choose a beautiful vacation rental in Penn Valley, CA that allowed for forty of their closest to gather and celebrate. They wanted it to feel relaxed, like a vacation-style dinner party of sorts, where everyone lent a hand and it was truly “family style” from hair and makeup all the way to the catering. They succeeded.

Their no-fuss approach, simple plans and week of prep led to a seamless event. Ever heard of a groom catering his own wedding? I hadn’t until this day. With all the prep done, their friends fired up the grill and put the final touches on the completed meal, which was one of the best I’ve ever tasted!

These two show that with good planning and keeping it simple with family and friends who want to be more than just guests, it is possible to have a DIY wedding that checks all the boxes and flows beautifully for all!
